This website, www.MindfulCuisine.com ("Website"), is owned and operated by Mindful Cuisine (“we”, “us”, “our”). This Privacy Policy and Terms of Use (“Policy”) describes what you can expect when visiting the Website and interacting with us. Through continued use of the Website, including paying for events and signing up for our mailing list, as well as participating in events, you are agreeing to this Policy.

This Policy is subject to change and will affect all information collected before and after the changes go into effect.

What information do we collect from you?

When you visit our Website

The Website is developed on Squarespace and hosted on servers in the United States. It utilizes Google Analytics for usage statistics. When you access our Website, your IP address, browser, device type, operating system, geographic location, and language are logged, as well as the date and time of access, pages accessed, and the address of the website from which you linked. Mindful Cuisine does not use Google Analytics to obtain personal information about you. Mindful Cuisine does use cookies (small files placed on your device’s hard drive). If you disable cookies in your browser, some Website features such as shopping (signing up for classes and choosing menu items for private events) will be disabled, and others may not work properly.

When you comment on a blog post

We request your email address before allowing you to comment on a blog post. Your email address is not made public or linked to any other function we perform.

When you sign up for our mailing list

You are required at a minimum to provide your email address. You can provide additional information if you choose, which helps us to target communications more effectively.

When you read one of our email communications

Information about your interactions with e-mail messages, such as the links clicked and whether the messages were opened or forwarded, is collected and saved.

When you make a purchase on our Website

We collect the minimum amount of information necessary to process your order. This includes your email address and billing and payment information. If you have provided names of guests, special requests regarding menu items, or information about the occasion, that information is retained with the order as well. We pass billing and payment information to the payment processor. We do not retain payment information, but we do retain any other information you provide with the order.

When you create an online account on our Website

We do not require the creation of an account to view our Website or to make purchases. When you create an account with us, we collect the information you provide us, such as your name, email address, phone number, and payment information. This information is utilized during, and helps streamline, the checkout process. You can review and edit this information.

When you participate in an event

Prior to the event, we require that you complete Information and Waiver Forms for yourself and any of your children that are participating. In addition to your contact information, this form provides information about emergency contacts, allergies, etc. Online forms can be accessed on the General Information page of the Website.

The contact information provided on the form may be used to provide information, such as recipes, after the event.

Other communication

You may opt to provide Mindful Cuisine with personal information through an email message, form, survey, telephone call, etc. This information is used only for the purpose of your communication.

What information about you do we obtain from other sources?

When you enroll in a Mindful Cuisine class offered through a third party

We receive enrollment information from any third party (e.g., the University of Utah Continuing Education Program) that has arranged to offer Mindful Cuisine classes through their websites / programs.

When someone makes a purchase on your behalf

When someone purchases an event and intends to include you as a guest, that individual may provide your name to us during the purchase. If someone purchases a gift certificate for you and you redeem that gift certificate, then we can link you to that purchaser.

Who Else has access to your information and how is it used?

These are the types of entities other than Mindful Cuisine (“third parties”) who may receive personal information we collect.

Service Providers: Any third party contracted for services such as updating the Website, running reports, preparing email communications to the mailing list, etc. has access to personal data. Their use of the data would be limited to the scope of their project.

Communications: We utilize MailChimp to house our mailing list and to send emails to that mailing list. You can access their privacy policy at mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/. You can unsubscribe from the mailing list by clicking on the link at the bottom of any of those emails.

Payment Processors: We use PayPal and Stripe to process payments to us for events. They use the information we provide to them in accordance with their privacy policies. You can access their privacy policies via www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/ua/privacy-full and stripe.com/gb/privacy.

Google: Google collects aggregated and anonymized information about Website visitors through our use of Google Analytics. You can access their privacy policy at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Accountants: We share invoices with our accountants to facilitate financial accounting and reporting, including tax filings.

Purchasers: If Mindful Cuisine were to be sold, Mindful Cuisine’s mailing and customer lists would be treated as a business asset that could be sold as part of the business. The Privacy Policy would continue as part of the purchase.

Legal: Mindful Cuisine would comply with any subpoena requesting information we collected from you. In addition, we may use your information in connection with a legal or potential legal dispute or proceeding, or to comply with laws or regulations.

Insurers: We will share your information with our insurers where it is necessary to do so in relation to an actual or potential claim.

We respect your privacy. Mindful Cuisine will not disclose your information to a third party, except as described above. When you click on a link from Mindful Cuisine to a third party, you are subject to that third party’s privacy policy. Mindful Cuisine does not monitor or control any data collected by that third party.

Data Security

We undertake reasonable measures to help protect your data. No data transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be 100% secure; therefore, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of any information you provide to us and cannot be responsible for its loss or inadvertent disclosure.

International Users

We are a United States company, and our events are held in the United States. While they are marketed primarily to U.S. residents, they are also available to non-residents who are visiting or who have second or vacation homes in the area. By using our Website and/or services, you consent to your information being collected, processed, and stored in the United States and to the use of your data by third parties, as described herein.

Contact us at the address in the footer if you have any questions or comments. If you are requesting information about, or changes to, the data we have collected about you or how we use it, we will take whatever steps we deem necessary to verify your identity prior to addressing your request. We will respond to a request for information or deletion within 45 days of receiving that request or let you know if and why an extension is necessary.

Changes to the Privacy Policy

Mindful Cuisine may change this Privacy Policy periodically. Any change will affect all personal information collected prior to the change. All changes to the Privacy Policy can be viewed in the Change Log.

January, 2020: Added information about information collected from you when creating online accounts. Revised information collected with the purchase of gift certificates (we no longer collect information about the recipient or occasion during the gift certificate purchase process). Clarified that email addresses collected on the Information and Waiver Form are used to send information such as recipes to class participants.
